Brandon Smigiel currently serves as our Animal Care & Control Supervisor, a role that perfectly reflects his lifelong dedication to animal welfare and public service. His deep-rooted passion for advocating on behalf of animals is matched by a genuine desire to make a meaningful impact in his community. With an impressive background fortified by certifications from respected institutions, Brandon continuously sharpens his knowledge and skills to better serve both animals and the public.
Originally from the small coastal town of Supply, North Carolina, Brandon spent 26 years in his hometown before deciding it was time to explore the world beyond. Fueled by a love for travel, adventure, and the great outdoors, he embarked on a journey that took him to some of the nation’s most breathtaking National Parks. He held seasonal positions in Glacier, Death Valley, Grand Canyon, and the Petrified Forest—each one leaving a mark on his heart. But it was at the Petrified Forest where Brandon’s life changed forever: it’s where he met and fell in love with the woman who would become his wife. That park will always be more than just a beautiful landscape—it’s a personal landmark in his story.
Before joining the world of animal control, Brandon built a strong foundation in public safety through hands-on roles in both law enforcement and firefighting. These experiences not only strengthened his ability to remain calm under pressure but also deepened his commitment to serving and protecting those most vulnerable—whether human or animal. His background as a first responder continues to shape his leadership style and reinforce his mission: to be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Supported by a close-knit group of family, colleagues, and like-minded professionals, Brandon approaches his work with purpose, compassion, and a tireless work ethic. Whether responding to calls in the field or guiding his team, his dedication to animal welfare is evident in everything he does.
