Meet Corporal Shelendewa

Corporal

Let’s take a moment to get to know Corporal Shelendewa — a dedicated officer, compassionate leader, and a proud member of our law enforcement family.

Born and raised in Holbrook, Corporal Shelendewa’s journey in law enforcement began behind the walls of a detention facility, working as a Detention Deputy. It was there that she developed a strong foundation in discipline, communication, and resilience. Fueled by a relentless drive to grow and an unwavering commitment to serving others, she took the next big step — earning her badge and stepping into the community as a Police Officer.

Through hard work, sharp instincts, and a deep sense of purpose, she quickly became a standout among her peers. Her recent promotion to Corporal is not just a new title — it's a reflection of her leadership, expertise, and the respect she’s earned both within the department and throughout the community she serves.

Off duty, Corporal Shelendewa enjoys the slower pace of life, you’ll likely find her enjoying a laid-back day at home with her family.  She’s also a creative force in the kitchen. With a passion for experimenting with new recipes, she’s always cooking up something delicious. Her chicken fettuccine alfredo prepared entirely from scratch is a definite crowd pleaser. Her talents extend well beyond the badge, and her love for culinary creativity offers a glimpse into her vibrant personality.

Her favorite holiday? Christmas — not just for the festive lights and traditions, but for the joy it brings to those around her (yes, even the nonstop holiday music). Known around the department for her bold tattoos and unexpectedly witty sense of humor, she brings a unique blend of confidence, approachability, and authenticity to her role in uniform.

Corporal Shelendewa lives by a simple rule: treat people the way you’d want to be treated. It’s a principle that guides her work in the field, her interactions with the public, and the way she supports her fellow officers.

She is more than just a dedicated law enforcement professional — she’s a steady presence in high-pressure moments, a mentor to the next generation of officers, and a source of compassion when it’s needed most. Her leadership, integrity, and human touch make her a true asset to the department and a shining example of what it means to serve.
